Welcome to the state-of-the-art Optical Coatings Laboratory at the Department of Laser Technologies, FTMC. Here innovation converges with excellence. Our laboratory stands as an expert in optical coatings research, meeting the changing requirements of both: the scientific and industrial community. Our team of experienced scientists and engineers works tirelessly to stay ahead of technological advancements in the field of optical coatings.
The laboratory is currently engaged in the development of scientific and technological tasks:
- Enhancement of Optics’ Resistance to Laser Radiation: The focus is on increasing the resistance of optical substrates to laser radiation through methods such as plasma etching, materials and coating structure optimization, and laser conditioning processes.
- Systematic Exploration of Coating Technology Parameters: The impact of coating technology parameters, including vacuum pressure and deposition rate, on both optical-spectral and physical characteristics of the formed layers is under investigation.
- Minimization of Losses in Optical Coatings: Strategic approaches are employed to reduce losses within optical coatings. This involves investigating the impact of coating technology parameters and conducting analysis by absorption at the ppm level.
- Creation of New Characteristics: Investigation into the inner geometry of thin films for anisotropy or extraordinary features, such as controlled porosity and reduced refractive index. Exploration of the processes involved in coatings that combine metallic and dielectric components,
- Optimization of Negative Dispersion Optical Coatings: Optimization processes, including Ion Beam Sputtering (IBS) in combination with porous layers, are undertaken to tailor optical coatings with negative dispersion.
- Investigation of Transparent Conductive Films: Optimization of fabrication process and material properties., The research is specifically focused on ultrathin metals and Indium Tin Oxide (ITO).
- Enhancement of the coatings’ uniformity: Investigation into the uniformity of coatings on complex substrates and multi-level micro-optics using advanced sputtering and atomic layer deposition techniques
